Four issues. Five artists in each. That is the whole of it.
Four a year, one for every issue. The theme comes first and the work answers it.
Shorter assignments in between. Made for making, not for winning.
One work, one week, at the front of the site. Everyone who visits sees it.
Five artists carry a theme across a whole issue. Read online, printed on paper.
A wall in the exhibition that goes with the issue, for as long as it hangs.
There is no fee and there never was one. Entry is by portfolio review, and that review is the only door.
Support keeps the printing going, and that lives on its own page. It has nothing to do with getting in.
Five places an issue means good work waits for a theme that fits it. A no is often a matter of timing.
And there is no individual feedback. One person reads every submission, so notes for everyone is a promise that would break.
Not everything belongs.
The right work does.
Five to seven images and a line about the work. The next open call opens on 1 August.
