About

I have been doing
this since 2009.

Get Inspired Society started as a place to keep work I did not want to lose. Photographers and artists I came across, held on to, and wanted other people to see. Seventeen years later it is still that, with more structure around it.

Four times a year an issue goes out with five artists in it. There is a room you can walk through and a magazine you can read, both open to anyone, without an account. Behind one door there is a smaller space where the people who make the work talk to each other.

Most of the work I turn down is good.

There are five places in an issue. That is the whole reason for a no, most of the time. Good work waits for a theme that fits it, and some of it comes back two issues later and lands.

What I look for has not really changed. A clear voice. A direction somebody is actually going in. Work that holds up when you look at it a second time.

I read the submissions, choose the themes, edit the issues and build most of what you are looking at right now. That is not a boast. It is the reason things take the time they take, and the reason this place stays small on purpose.

I am in Rotterdam. If something here catches you, say so.
